Description: Come and learn about interactive tools that can be used in the classroom to enhance instruction. Participants will have hands on opportunities to practice using document cameras, whiteboards, interactive class response tools and use of podcasts to enhance instruction. Participants will then see how the different tools can be integrated into the curriculum across all content areas to enhance instruction.
8:00-8:10 Introduction
8:10-8:15 Survey participants knowledge about interactive technology
Survey determines the order of what we present.
(This order below is just what I am thinking would be the best order)
Questions: (we can add more on the fly)
1. Which interactive tool are you most interested in using in your classroom?
A. Clickers B. Wireless Slate C. Interactive boards D. I don’t know yet!
2. Are you looking for
A. realtime assessment B. interactive classroom tools C. Both
8:15-8:30 Demo on Promethean and Smart Board
Intro the basics of interactive technology (show some of the “bells and whistles”)
Use the board to view the different types of interactive tools we will focus on.
8:30-8:45 First activity: Demo Document Cameras
Share with participants the ways to use document camera
Websites that have doc camera resources
8:45-9:15 Second activity: Clickers
Introduce the types of clickers
Promethean ActiVotes, CPS, OptiVote, Qomo
Strengths/Weakness vs. Cost
Time involved in learning or training staff
Which one works best in specific situations?
Break into smaller groups for hands on activity
We have to make sure that the radio frequency does not interfere with the different devices. If so then we use them one at a time which may limit the demo period.
9:15-9:45 Third activity: Interactive Whiteboards and wireless slates.
Introduce the types of Whiteboards and Slates
Promethean, CPS,
Strengths/Weakness vs. Cost
Time involved in learning or training staff (Atomic Learning?)
Support (vendor and online)
Resources (installed on computer and web)
BrainPop, TumbleBooks,
Which one works best in specific situations
Break into smaller groups for hands on activity
We should consider how we break them up. By subject, by grade level, ???
9:45-10:00 Break

10:00-10:45 Participants choose the interactive tool they want to explore.
I’m thinking a 5-10 minutes of an overview and help them get into groups. Each station will have written directions for them to follow and perform a specific task. That still gives them about 30 minutes or so at their station or they can go to another station.
Clickers – clicker stations will be set up between the interactive boards or moved outside in the hall. Directions on how to use the basic functions will be available (maybe we put the directions in the packet that they receive)
Wirelss Slates – I hope to have one for each Promethean Board. Currently I have one Promethean AcitvSlate, one CPS (AirLiner) slate, and I will be getting at least one of the slates from Bartram. We can have each group perform tasks like a normal classroom of students.
Interactive Boards – I know I have three lined up for the room and I think I can get five. Which gives us one for each table if we choose to use it that way. I’m thinking that this tool will be the one that people gravitate toward.
10:45-11:00 Wrap up and evaluations:

Podcast piece – I’m not sure what we were thinking when we put that in the description. Any ideas?
